Why I Want To Attend College Essay

While trying to decide where I would like to go to college, I have come across three schools that are very different, but have positives and negatives to each one. Those colleges being Indiana University Bloomington, Ball State University, and Hanover College. IU is ranked one hundred fourteenth out of six hundred on Forbes America’s Top Colleges list, Hanover is ranked two hundred forty-seventh, and Ball State is ranked five hundred sixty-second (“America’s Top Colleges”). Whether it’s a small school like Hanover or a much larger one like Indiana University Bloomington, there is something unique each school has to offer.
Going into college, I plan to pursue a degree in nursing, with the intent of ultimately becoming a nurse practitioner. As I research colleges, there are many factors that are key to making a decision. I would like to attend a school that will prepare me for a career in nursing, so their offered majors play a large role. Along with that, location, cost, and size matter to me, as I have specific preferences for each one. Besides majors offered, the most important factor for me is campus life. These programs would allow me to finish college and be a registered nurse. IU’s nursing program is very competitive, admitting around eighty students each fall (“School of Nursing Bloomington Campus”). Hanover, on the other hand, does not have a nursing program, but they have a degree in biochemistry which would allow me late enter an accelerated nursing program elsewhere (“Programs and Majors”). Indiana University Bloomington not only has a bachelor's program in nursing, but also a master’s, which would lead me into the job I want (“Degrees and Majors”). Both Indiana and Ball State would easily lead me into a nursing path, but I would still be able to become a nurse if I attended
