There are several reasons why it is important for the United States Postal Service to have a high volume of mail to process. The first reason is that the workload will require a number of people to do the work. Then, more people are employed to handle the high volume of mail during the process of sorting and handling the parcels for delivery. This could reduce a small portion of unemployment rate. More importantly, more people would mean higher productivity – eventually lead to lower costs (i.e. postage rates, shipping and handling, stamps, etc.).
