Unhealthy Testing
Excel in school so that you can get good grades and go to a good college so that you can get a good well paying job so that you can have a good life. This is what has been pounded into our heads since we started school. But what is their is a flaw in that system? Standardized testing is something that students have to do numerous times from when they start school to when they finish. These test can affect things in your life such as what college you get into or what college you can afford due to scholarship opportunities, no matter how hard you study or how high a student's grades are if they do not perform well on standardized test it can affect their future in drastic ways. This is incentive for teachers to teacher more for the test and less for the students. In this instance this could better the school and maybe even the teachers, but it is hurting the students. An example of how these testing environments are unhealthy is because students are put into a room where they are watched like a hawk. This alone can put a lot of pressure on a student. The tests are also times. Not only are the test timed but each subject is times. This is unhealthy because a students who is really good a science but is slower when it comes to math can not use their extra time left over from their science portion to help them spend a little more time on their math portion. Students can not talk to another student, they can not ask questions, they can not use references or other learning devices, and students can not get up or move around. How often does the real world look like this? Not often. learning or testing environments like this resemble a prison. If these test and the information that they uphold are supposed to prepare you for the “real world”, why are they so opposite from the real
