The thought and debate about wither or not Drugs should be legalized has been an ongoing debate between the Government, States and the people of the United States picking up more momentum over the past few years. Like the time when alcohol with in its own right is also classified a drug and went through its own period of debate which we called the probation area. The Debate of which drugs are to become legalized and to what purpose will always be an ongoing issue as society is always changing. Using the word drugs is a debatable word as there is so many classifications of drugs is that it is ineffective to debate Drugs as a whole. Since the 1970’s people being arrested and or convicted for nonviolent drug offences has risen 500%. The prisons system is costing $70 billion a year, and has triple the prison population it that it had 20 years ago. By legalization of just certain drugs it would free up the judicial system allowing cases to be processed faster which would allow for a speedy trial. I am more for the legalization of marijuana then I would be of cocaine and heroin. I find that there is just as many benefits to the legislation of marijuana. Marijuana is already decriminalized or legalized in a way that it already being sociality acceptable. The revenue from taxing marijuana like alcohol or tobacco is already assisting the cities and states that have been struggling. Marijuana is a plant that can be grown within the United States creating jobs allowing it to be cost effective. There has been so many proven benefits medically that it has been a blessing to people who have certain aliments or diseases. By legalizing marijuana it would allow people to buy it from an approved place and take away the need to go to the pusher on the street which could cause a lot of other problems.
