Do Not Drink and Drive
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), “ 10,497 people died in a crash from a drunk driver, and 290,000 people were injured from a drunk driver in 2016.” Drunk driving takes the lives of innocent citizens, and the lives of many more people. Drunk driving affects adults and teenagers in America today. We can work together to bring a stop to drunk driving. A problem in America today is that people are driving while they are intoxicated and putting other people in danger. A possible solution is to make the laws on drunk driving more strict to get the drunk drivers off the road. As a result of this, we will have safer roads for people to drive on.
To start things off, drunk drivers are getting in their cars and driving home under the influence which, most of the time, can result into a crash and take someones life. For example, the NHTSA found that, in 2016, 28% of vehicle crashes that result in a death came from a drunk driver. That comes out to an average of one crash every 50 minutes from a drunk driver. I can back myself up by saying that a 2018 survey done by the Pew Research Center found that 74% of people who have a Facebook account visit it at least once per day. There is a good chance that they see someone’s post. It benefits people involved because you can walk around knowing that you could be helping someone get off the road if they are going to be drinking. Another benefit of posting information about drinking and driving is it will lead to safer roads because people will now know all the effects of drinking and driving, and will know the harm it can cause.
