School Comparison Some people might think all schools are the same. However, schools can be very different from each other. Some differences can be observed on the surface, while other require more experience and knowledge to be observed. While Williams Intermediate School and West High School are both fine schools for different reasons, West High School has certain qualities that make it a more superior school, such as a higher quality music department, academic structure, and and social aspect when compared to Williams intermediate School. While Williams and West both have a prominent band program, West’s is of a higher quality in every way. Williams offers honors classes, but only a few. They are Seventh Grade Honors English, Eighth Grade Honors English, and Honors Algebra I, which is a high school class. In most classes at Williams more time is devoted towards managing the classroom and controlling the people who cannot keep themselves under control; less is devoted to actual learning and education. Williams has electives, but not very many. All students are placed on a quarterly rotation where they are enrolled in a different elective class each quarter, such as cooking, art, and exploratory French and Spanish. The only real class a student can choose to take or not take is Spanish I, which would replace the quarterly rotation for the entire year. West has a very different approach to academics. There are many honors, advanced, and AP classes available at West, for both core and elective subjects. There are dual enrollment classes and other classes that provide students to save money in college. In any given classroom at West, the majority of the time is spent focusing on learning, educating, and studying. Some students at West are adults who can take care of themselves. They do not need a teacher looking over their shoulder every second of every day.
