World War Two was the most deadly war in history, with 418,500 soldier and civilian deaths. The number of lives cost would have increased significantly if the United States did not drop the bomb on the Japanese. The bombing of Hiroshima cost 45,000 lives. A Japanese attack such as the Attack on Nanking killed around 220,00 people. Although dropping the bomb on Japan can be seen as inhumane, the bomb needed to be dropped because it saved American lives, ended World War Two, and got justice for the bombing of Pearl Harbor. War World Two was a brutal war and it lasted six years, the war would have lasted almost five more months. According to the Atlantic, a small group of scientists asked a well-informed Japanese army officer asked what would have happened if the bomb had not been dropped. He replied, “We would have kept fighting until all Japanese were killed, but we would not have been defeated”. This quote shows that the Japanese would not have given up and would have cost many lives as the Japanese believed death in battle was more honorable than surrender and that the war would have lasted much longer than September. …show more content…
