Agency Mission Pupil Services is an agency within Los Angeles Unified School District under the Student Health and Human Service Division and their mission statement is the following: “To ensure that all LAUSD students are enrolled, attending, engaged, and on-track to graduate.” The agency firmly believes that within every student is a highly capable and motivated high school graduate. Agency Structure Pupil services partner with a variety of district and non-district agencies such as the City of Los Angeles. The City of Los Angeles pays for 16 PSA counselors, 1 lead counselor, and 1 coordinator position to be co-located at FamilySource Centers which are non-LAUSD agencies.
The County Prep High School mission statement truly expresses why I wish to attend this school. "We are a dynamic, diverse and compassionate learning community that encourages growth and embraces change through meaningful activities in a student centered environment." This explains that there will be a variety of culture and bright students who could encourage and help each other achieve greater goals. Additionally, after completely analyzing through all the program choices, I am ecstatic about joining this high school. Over the summer school officials met to review the mission statement of previous years and decided it was time for a change. Our previous mission statement was "The Mission of Charlotte Valley Central School District is to create a learning environment that challenges and motivates each student to become a self-sufficient, cooperative, responsible and attributing member of a global society while encouraging each to achieve his or her highest potential. " This was felt to be too long, busy, too much and not direct enough. So the officials worked together to create a new statement around the six core beliefs. After being the “top dogs” of their elementary schools the sixth grade class quickly became the youngest in the school. They easily adjusted to life as a middle schooler by working hard and managing to have fun while doing so. This year’s sixth grade class was described by their teachers as energetic, carefree, compassionate. Mrs. Shryock said that, “They’re very involved and excited about MTMS activities!” They had so many exciting activities and projects to make good memories from this year.

DRMLL is three dimensional: “(1) responsiveness to the developmental needs of middle grades students; (2) responsiveness to the developmental needs of faculty who support learning for middle grades students; and (3) responsiveness to the development of the middle school itself as a unique, innovative entity” (Brown & Anfara, 2002, p. 149). Each dimension included structures and practices of exemplary middle grades education, such as building a culture of community and a focus on curriculum, instruction, and assessment. For the “responsiveness to students” dimension, principals must understand the intellectual, physical, psychological, social, moral, and ethical characteristics of young adolescents. A school counselor is a valuable asset to any school. The mission at RMS is “Educating the Whole Child.” Middle School can be a challenging time for students due to a variety of factors. The focus of counseling here at RMS is not only placed on academics, but also on the physical, social, and emotional development of the students. The school counselor is here to provide support in any of those areas.
Junior Achievement helps motivates young people to dream and gives them resources to learn how to achieve their dreams. This program helps young students become more knowledgeable and prepared for their future. It also helps equip students with knowledge of what opportunities are out there for them.
