For this write up, I visited among others the website for Zillow.com and observed how e-business components interact and the role they play in Zillow’s success. In addition I observed how the business model components per the canvas below are important to them. The internet has made the real estate industry very interesting and as a result it has helped by improving communications and business. As we have learned thru the course, Business represents the rationale of how companies create, deliver, and capture value (Linder & Cantrell 2000).
i. Value Proposition
I read that part of the value proposition at Zillow’s includes empowering home buyers by offering them more options when trying to select a home. Potential strategic resources
Zillow is always in the “hunt” for new data in order to be able to continue having a dominant share of real estate agents digital ad spending (I think Zillow should explore more Virtual and or augmentation reality opportunities, they may have 3D in some instance but virtual tours could be more effective). Zillow is always out innovating its competitors by augmenting that basic listing data with other data, including listing of homes not for sale and by investing heavily in mobile. In addition another competitive advantage that Zillow took was the merger with Trulia. (Graham 2017)
The result of this merger resulted in new market development opportunities in the commercial real estate and mortgage lending industries. With this merger Zillow inherited Trulia’s 54 million users and became a cohesive cooperation between two industry leaders.
