Music in America Rihanna: Live at the Xfinity Center On March 26, 2016, I had the pleasure of seeing American artist, Rihanna, perform live at the Xfinity Center in Hartford, Connecticut. This was part of Rihanna’s “Anti-World Tour”, her seventh concert tour, supporting her eighth album. Rihanna became a famous singer at the age of 16 and is known for her unique style of reggae-influenced music, due to her Barbadian culture. Rihanna, along with her band, performed music of various different genres
On Friday October 2rd, 2015 I attended a concert by an internationally known Latin music star: Marc Anthony. Marc Anthony specializes in making salsa music. His music has been apart of my life ever since I was born, and has played a big roll in making me who I am. Various generations in my family including my grandmother, mother, and my self have enjoyed his music. Throughout the years his music could be heard in all of my family parties. One of the reasons why he is so appreciated by my family
associated with a concert is widely experienced, but it is seldom able to be put into tangible description, let alone make sense to anybody who hasn’t experienced it firsthand. Concerts are a journey with many stages that take place over the course of weeks, even months, and the unpredictably exciting nature of the experience amplifies the strength of the emotions felt. The complexity of the situation is frequently overlooked, mostly because many believe that the emotional effects of a concert start and
of the most enjoyable class i’ve taken this year. It was a happy environment where you can be yourself, and have fun. I took a lot of things away from this course, and made a lot of memories. At the end of the course we had to perform in two concerts at a local church. A couple weeks in advance we would go to the church during chorus class on Tuesdays and Thursdays. I really enjoyed taking the bus and getting to leave the school for about a hour. The first day we went to the church I was kind
University Symphony Orchestra director by Dr. Eric Garcia. The performance was held at the Seretean Center Concert Hall located on the Oklahoma State University Campus. The concert was attended by a number of people of varying ages, and seemed to have a good number of music lovers in the audience from the number of people who instantly gave a standing ovation at the end of the performance. The concert consisted of two pieces the first having two movements and the second having a total of four movements
For my second concert report, I went to see South Alabama’s Flute Choir and Celtic Crue perform in the Spring Concert. The USA Flute Choir performed a total of six pieces and the Celtic Crue performed four short pieces of Irish tradition. The concert was on Thursday March 30, 2017 at 7:30 pm in the Laidlaw Recital Hall. The first piece was A Gaelic Offering by Catherine McMichael and consisted of two movements. This piece was a flute quartet in the first movement, but in the second movement one
London on the 27 of May. This event was organized by the group of BA students from London Tech Music School. Our cooperative efforts in the organization of event brought good results and were appreciated by the audience. From my point of view, the concert was really successful. Reflecting from the technical viewpoints, the venue proceeded without any problems: lightning, monitors, visuals etc. everything was at the appropriate level (Brocket 2010). By undertaking this event, it was brought to our attention
were three sections where people can sit which in the left side has barely anyone sitting, in the middle section it was full, and in the right section there are half as many people in the middle section. I can see that most people that came to the concert are in their 20’s to 30’s, which there were no old people or teenagers. You can hear echo’s when people are talking in the auditorium. The audience became silence as the lights were shut off dark. Soon there was a light shining
For the second concert report, I went to go see the Paul Di Blasi Band at the Culver City Hotel. This was actually the second time I had attended this venue, it was decorated similarity to last time. The venue was very vintage in terms of its decor, it truly had an old school feel, it made you fee like you were in the 1920s. The hotel was dimly lit, and had a jazzy and supper club atmosphere. Almost everyone was dressed up but also casual, and the music was perfect for this setting. From the moment
Kelsey Yakou Music December 8, 2017 Concert Report The concert I decided to write about was held in San Diego during the Gay Pride Parade on July 15, 2017. It was called the “Pride Music Festival” where patrons were able to enjoy multiple groups, of a similar genre, at a venue in beautiful and classic Balboa Park. Some of the performers were as follows: En Vogue, Salt n Peppa, Tinashe, Estelle, Cakes da Killa, Kodie Shane, Jessica 6 and Cazwell. The musical collaboration was similar in techniques
Concert Report After carefully reviewing all of the musical events that the Department of Music at Texas A&M – Corpus Christi had to offer, I had decided to attend the University Symphony Orchestra’s concert, which had that featured Dr. Carrie Pierce as a guest artist, that was held in the Performing Arts Center on March 1st, 2016 at 7:30 pm. I wanted to go to this specific concert for the fact that I had never been to an orchestra concert as well as my interest was sparked as to what the performers
Saturday, May 9, 2015 I attended a concert featuring my favorite R&B artist by the name of Ginuwine. This concert was located at Riverside Theater in downtown Milwaukee. The concert was named One Night Stand and also included two other R&B sensations by the name of Tank and RL who was a member of a group called Next. The concert setting was very intimate. The artist made it a point to connect with their fans and even went as far as getting into the crowds. It was low lit lighting with shades
One Direction Concert It was a sunny July day during the summer of 2015, and my family and I were headed to, the one and only, One Direction concert. Needless to say, I was completely and utterly obsessed with One Direction since eighth grade and my obsession hadn’t stopped. It had always been a dream of mine to finally see the faces that I’ve worshiped for about four years up close and personal, and we were going to do just that. Let’s go back to where it all started, the complete obsession
African Night was truly an Amazing Experience and I commend The African Student Union for providing us with authentic African culture. Africa Night took place March 3rd in the Fine arts building. The audience was mainly college students on the Friday night's show, I attribute this to the lower prices on Friday, as appose to Saturday. For most of the performance the audience listened and watched in awe, but in some portions of the performance I noticed the audience shouting and dancing to some of
at the PNC Music Pavilion. This concert featured two legendary rock bands, Kiss and Def Leppard. Also performing was Kobra and the Lotus. This was such an amazing experience because it was the first tour that these two bands have done together and being able to see both of them at the same venue was surreal. This concert was also a very meaningful one for everyone in attendance because Kiss was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in April 2014. This concert was not only great for entertainment;
For this, my second concert assignment, I attended Austin Civic Orchestra’s “One of Our Own” on Saturday, November 7, 2015 at the Lake Travis Performing Arts Center. Being that the performance was to be held at a high school campus, I was expecting for the theater to look somewhat like a converted gym, but as I walked, in I was blown away by just how beautiful it was. While I waited for the concert to begin I read through the program, and being the concert novice that I am, saw only four pieces
The concert that I attended was of the band Def Leppard and they performed at the Xcel Energy center in St. Paul on October 5th. This concert was primarily instrumental and vocal music. The genre of this concert was mainly a concerto. The era that was represented throughout this concert was the 20th century. The type of ensemble that this concert featured was a band. The lead singer of the band is Joe Elliot. The bass, guitar, and drums are all the instruments in the band. The members that play those
We all got the amazing chance to attend the Chicago Sinfonietta featuring Mucca Pazza concert on September 22, 2014. The concert consisted of the Chicago Sinfonietta and Mucca Pazza. This concert is one of the first concerts that I have been to that I will never forget, as it was very unique to say the least. The concert started off with a few selections from the Chicago Sinfonietta. They played English Folk Song Suite by Vaughan Williams, Dance in the Canebrakes by Florence Price and Young Person’s
Concerts are music performances done to a live audience. The audience may be a small one, or a large one, depending on the kind of concert it is, and the kind of music that is played in the concert. In this case, the concert in question is the Young People's Concerts under the musical direction of Leonard Bernstein. The concert is a combination of pieces done by Holst named The Planets, which include Mars and Venus among others. The performance in the Young People’s Concert is done to a group of
An ideal member of the National Honor Society must demonstrate the following characteristics: Leadership, Service, and Character. To qualify for such a prestigious organization, one must qualify with a GPA of at least 3.5.
