I became interested in this career after seeing dozens of criminal T.V shows with a lawyer as the main characters. In all of these shows the lawyer is almost always rich. Another reason is reason I am pursuing a career as a lawyer is because I have always had an extreme passion for law and have been intrigued by it since I was young. The character in To Kill a Mockingbird, Atticus Finch, who defended the innocent Tom Robinson who was accused of rape has always been a role model of mine. In a racist town he remained unbiased and went against strong public opinion to defend Tom. There is a lot of money available in the field of law as well, however it is very hard to work your way up to the top and is often said that one of the most important parts of getting a job as a lawyer is going to a good law school. Another obstacle you have to face to be successful in this career is that you cannot be afraid to work long hours, because it is not a normal 9-5 job like a salesman or a business man. As a lawyer you have to be getting ready for upcoming trials by sifting through and studying an abundance of paperwork. Another thing I already knew before becoming a lawyer is that you cannot show any sort of sympathy to the opponent because this could possibly ruin your case and the person you’re defending could end up in jail. Aside from all the things i already know, I also am interested in finding out what some of the best pre law and law schools are in the Michigan even though I am very open to venturing outside the state for the degree. If I enter the law profession, I can choose to become a corporate lawyer, tax lawyer, and even a judge in the future.
