Standardized tests should be prorogated from schools all over the United States.
Standardized tests do not flawlessly reveal a student’s learning capacity. Standardized tests are being used to judge an institution’s quality. Students are being taught to achieve highs scores in these standardized test but are not being well prepared for successful adult lives. Opponents to the abolition of standardized tests legitimize by saying “"Teaching to the test" can be a good thing because it focuses on essential content and skills, eliminates time-wasting activities that don't produce learning gains, and motivates students to excel.” (Gesell Institute, 2010)
Moreover, standardized test do not specify how good or bad is the learning capacity of a student. Standardized tests have a standard grading manner. Just like all schools are not the same, students are all different as well. It is quiet unfair for non-native American student to take a standardized test. The knowledge of this student in another language is as meaningful as an English speaker student. These tests are being used to judge an institution’s quality. I strongly disagree with this matter. The school staff’s quality shouldn’t be based on the student’s scores in these standardized tests. For instance, in a class of 20 students, a ratio of 13:7, 13 students demonstrating hard work and 7 non-interested in the subject do not accurately reveal a professor’s quality. By using this example, It is not precisely known whether the professor is being effective when teaching or not. The government uses these scores to judge staffs and administrators of the institution without acknowledging the fact of those students who are not as interested in the subject as the
