Animal testing causes a lot of problems despite it existing for a good reason. Animal testing, which has been around for years, has had an impact on the relationships between humans and animals. Animal testing has proven to be ineffective, inhumane, and causes unnecessary trauma and damage.
Animal testing has proved to be ineffective at times along with being inhumane. In the article “Animal Experimentation” when it talks about how experimentation is ineffective it says “Animals that are used most often in experimentation have vastly different anatomy, metabolism, genetics, disease expression, and other biological systems than humans” (Longe). Since the anatomy of the animals are different, doing tests on them cannot always be a reliable method,

In “Animal experimentation” Longe said “It often involves unrelenting or quantitative mental, physical, and psychological stress-all of which animals are capable of experiencing” (Longe) Animals suffer mentally during animal testing, often for no reason because of how bad the success rates are. Longe also said “...taken together with evidence of animals as sentient beings capable of a wide range of emotions and thought processes…” (Longe). Since animals can feel pain and experience emotions, they can feel all of the testing and experimentation that happens to them. It's also mentioned in “Animal experimentation” that “Not only are time, money, and animals’ lives being wasted…” Many resources are being wasted along with animals. “Best estimates for the total number of animal subjects in all medical/psychological research in the United States is about 100 million per year, according to the humane society. The U.S. department of agriculture reports, annually, the numbers do not include birds, rats, or mice because they are not covered under the animal welfare act. Of the animals used in psychology research, 90 percent are rodents (rats and mice) and birds.” (Longe). The amount of animals used per year is around 100 million, which doesn’t even include the majority of animals
