Anne is a girl around the age of 12-15. She is a Jewish girl with her Jewish family. She and her family are caught in the middle of the holocaust. She is in hiding from the Nazis, because if the Nazis do manage to find her she will be taken to a concentration camp. She is in a world, which seems to have no hope or freedom; but if you look closely, it’s everywhere. There is a very finite amount of space in the secret annex even if it is two floors. I would think I would loose all my hope if I spent even a month or two in there; I have no idea how Anne could have survived two years in the annex. She has a very strong heart if she has hope that lasts two years in the same space for that long of time. She can find hope in the annex by playing simple board games, puzzles, and even some homework. She would be all alone, but with her family it helps her feel comforted and loved. She has friends as well. One of her friends is a boy named Peter. She is very close to Peter. They tell each other secrets and complain to each other like real friends do. Peter is one of those people who helps out where he can. Peter helps Anne by keeping her mind off the current event, which is being in hiding for a long period of time. Then when Peter and Anne had started liking each other that kept her mind off the war more than anything else. It had seemed as if that’s all Anne was talking about. If Anne has people going through the same thing as she is, it must be better for her to live through
