Gay adoption is a controversial topic to talk about because it is a sensitive topic. The sexuality of a person should not alter their rights. Humans should all be treated equally and it should not matter if they are gay or straight. It is pretty sad that because of the way some people choose to love another person, people judge them and don’t give them the rights that they deserve. Love is love, it should not matter if it is between man and woman, man and man, or woman and woman. If someone is happy with their partner they should have the right to be happy. They should also have the right to start a family. The conditions in foster homes are not set up for the way a child should live. A foster home, St. Christopher’s, had children who were almost always found neglected or abused. This is usually the case in most foster homes because the children are rarely put with a proven non abusive family. From 1999-2005, seven children were found dead in homes they were placed in. That should not be something that happens once, let alone seven times in six years. ( Kaufman ) Teenagers were found weighing less than normal teenagers because of malnutrition. Children were treated like they were not human beings, turning their childhood into a horror story that nobody could imagine going through. Babies were found tied to cribs, or were completely ignored to the point where they would not even cry because they knew nobody would come to help them. Children with disabilities were left for dead or not given the care they needed. If two gay people were to have a baby, only one parent would be on the birth certificate. Both parents are raising the child so both names should be on the birth certificate. Also in some schools, children can be kicked out of school for being gay. ( Sangillo ) They are not given the chance of becoming successful in life because of the different love life they may have. The only thing wrong with that is not letting the child have the chance to go to school and become smart. Many true stories have been told about being rejected because of sexuality or even the rejecting to bring a child into a happy relationship wanting to start a family. A lesbian, Busisiwe Davis, is scared to hold hands with her girlfriend in public because she is scared of what people will think of her, Someone should not feel scared to express love to another person in public, like holding hands, no matter what. But, still people do think positive and support people’s sexuality. Yoav Arad Pinkas, told his parents and they were happy for him. He got married to his partner and they are HAPPY! ( Watts ) Parents should want their children to be happy and not ashamed or embarrassed to be around them. A very inspiring story on the topic of two gay people trying to have a baby is the story of Desiree and Stephanie Bryan.
