You may have always thought that students were getting the best out of their education and the different standards they have to know, but that’s not entirely true. The common core is a list of standards made in collaboration with the CCSSO (Council of Chief State School Officers) and NGA Center for Best Practices (National Governors Association for best practices) in an attempt to have the best possible education made available to students. Forty-two of the fifty states have adopted this initiative, but frankly, It hasn't really helped. Parents and students all over America have made complaints on the U.S common core standards, some of those complaints including the cultural bias present in the standardized tests, and how it can't effectively measure non-verbal learning. People have been talking about an educational reform for quite a while now, and efforts are currently being made to try and get this to happen, most notably the CER (Center for …show more content…

One possible option is to simply do nothing, as in take no action upon the issue and continue to let the Common Core be the state standards. There are many that would probably let the issue go and ignore it, most likely due to the fact that it doesn't affect them. Although it may not affect them, they could still be better off with better standards to increase their education, something that all students should be striving for. The second and more preferable option, would be to change the Common Core and improve the standardized testing. This list of standards have not been doing well in bringing out the best of students, and so far have only been seeing mediocre or sub-par performances. The testing that comes with the standards are also in need of some kind of change, with many complaining about the cultural bias in some of the questions and how some students failed not because they didn’t know the content, but because they didn't understand what the questions were
