How Common Core is Positive

Education in the United States changes every single day. Today, forty five of the fifty

states base their education on common core. The common core methods are certain standards

that students should know by each grade level. These standards are mostly found in the math

and language arts subjects. The decision on whether to issue the common core standards or

not has been a very popular debate in recent years in the United States. I am for common core.

I believe that the common core standards are important because it gives each student the best

opportunity to receive a high quality education.

I believe common core allows more collaboration between students and teachers.

When I was in high school, I often played review games, causing me to do

very well on test. If I was the teacher using the common core standards, I would use review

games to engage my students into the lesson. My class was most engaged in the lesson when

play review games and I feel like if I used that method in my classroom, I would have positive results in common core assessment tests. Another reason why I am for common core is because of the funding. Many may argue

that the funding is unfair because lower income schools cant afford the resources higher income

schools can. Common core funding allows for more technology to be used in the classrooms

(Common Core State Standard Initiative). I went to a rural high school and we did not have a

high income. Although we weren't a rich school, were still able to have MacBooks as our

textbook. This was a great idea because students from the 4th grade to the 12th grade were able

to use technology at an early age. The teachers used the internet to teach lessons and perform

assignments. I found this very helpful because the time I got to college, I was familiar
