Autism is a worldwide condition that many individuals possess. It is a fairly common and serious thing to have. All autism cases are different and range in levels of severity. Research has been going on for years to try to determine what causes autism. Scientists have many theories, but there is currently an ongoing debate about whether it is caused by genetics or childhood vaccinations.
Scientists and researchers define autism as multiple conditions appearing in early childhood. All of the conditions include problems with communication, social interaction, imaginative abilities, and repetitive behaviors. To be considered autistic, some of these issues have to be developing, if not already developed, by the age of three.
Every child with an autistic disorder is different, which makes it hard for people to describe. They do, however, have the same sort of problems. In most cases, parents notice abnormal behaviors while their child is still an infant. They may hold their bodies rigid when offered affection, not like bathing, being changed, or any changes in daily routine. There is no single neurological abnormality found in autistic children; although, through magnetic resonance imaging, (MRI), scientists do believe some areas of the brain are involved. Research began to focuse on the temporal lobe. When healthy people go through temporal lobe damage, they develop autistic-like symptoms, including social impairments, problems with attention, categorization, memory, etc. Some researchers believe it might be due to complications when giving birth, or medication taken during pregnancy.
