Hydrogen bombs are more than 1000 times more powerful than the very common atomic bomb. The explosion is from nuclear fusion which is when hydrogen nuclei (plural of nucleus) are joined to form helium nuclei, releasing great destructive energy and radioactive fallout. When the nuclei combine there is a split second where there is nothing and then there is the explosion. An atomic bomb is the trigger or the smaller bomb of what sets off the hydrogen bomb. We have to be careful with the hydrogen bomb because, if used, it will cause a major catastrophe far greater than the damage done by the atomic bomb.
The Atomic bomb is a release of nuclear energy, due to the sudden release in energy it causes a violent explosive power, creating a tremendous amount of damage. In Hiroshima, the Atomic bomb killed 14,800 more people per square mile than the traditional fire bomb (National Archives United States). The war in the Pacific, against Japan was the first war in history to practice nucleic weapons. It is believed that when Truman was faced with the choice on whether or not to drop the bombs, despite his morals, he decided that dropping the bomb was essential to scaring and dismissing Russia. Which brings us to 1945 on August 6th when the first Atomic bomb was dropped, even though Truman did not have the right to drop the Atomic bombs on Japan.
The first atomic bomb was an incredibly revolutionary weapon which took a team of bright minded scientist to build and construct. Scientist from all around the world came to New Mexico to design the first atomic bomb. Robert Oppenheimer was put in charge to put all the pieces together. The basic science behind the atomic bomb is that surrounding the uranium is something called a tamper. The tamper prevented the neutrons from flying out and instead would make the neutrons bounce back
They destroyed people’s homes shops and even crushed babies heads brutally with no regrets. The atomic bomb was invented by scientists working in the manhattan project. There atomic 2 atomic bombs were dropped. Before the wars people were experimented with nuclear weapons.
The first bomb Little Boy, had mechanics that worked like a gun. They had two isotopes of Uranium-235 (which is a very powerful very reactive element) they had each one on the end of the gun barrel design. They when the bomb was about to hit it would release the top amount of U-235 and it would ram into the other amount of U-235 and combine causing it to explode. THe reason for this explosion happened because when the combined a neutron would break off and combine with another U-235. when this happens it becomes unsustainable and so it breaks apart almost immediately causing that release of energy.
Instead, the atomic bombs were a tragic unnecessary act causing a large amount of death and suffering to civilians in Japan. The bombings on Nagasaki and Hiroshima created a pattern for the use of nuclear weapons in many ways, including the lack of boundaries. The use of these weapons during WWII masked the original use of them. These atomic bombings triggered an arms race between the Soviet Union and the United States, preparing them for a buildup on the use of these weapons. The atomic bombings inspired other countries to create and use nuclear weapons[3], increasing the risk of conflict.
I am writing to encourage you to end the war and drop the atom bomb on Japan. Those awful people have been warned and they refuse to back down. It has been a brutal war for the both of us. We have lost countless valuable men and I fear if we continue a simple blockade and bomb strategy we will only lose more. The Japanese are people of great dignity and I know they will not back down until every last man, woman, and child is wounded beyond repair.
August 6, 1945 American Bomber B-29 dropped the atomic bomb over Hiroshima, Japan, changing the lives of both Americans and Japanese forever. To this day the question still remains, how should we remember the dropping of the atomic bomb? America was right to drop the atomic bomb, and by doing so it end a major world conflict. Without the atomic bomb, the war could have dragged on for many more years, causing more innocent people to die, In “Thank God for the Atomic Bomb” a soldier said, “On Okinawa, only a few weeks before Hiroshima, 123,000 Japanese and Americans killed each other. War is immortal.
But before I get to involve in this let me tell you the origin of the atomic bomb. It all began on August 2 1939, Einstein and several other scientists told Roosevelt of efforts in Nazi Germany to purify uranium-235,
"Nobody actually wants to cause the destruction we caused, but it was through a necessity rather than a wanton type of destruction. It was something that had to be done…” was said by Sergeant Robert H. Shumard, the assistant flight engineer of the Enola Gay. Shumard dropped the bomb Little Boy, so he was able to see the damage done to the city of Hiroshima. When he says this, he is meaning that they did not want to destroy the city or cause the deaths of so many innocent people, they thought it was something that had to be done in ending the war. President Truman was not in office for very long before he had to make a huge decision for the nation.
President Harry S. Truman on August 6, 1945 released a statement in regard to America’s use of the atomic bomb at Hiroshima, Japan. Seventeen years later President John F. Kennedy gave a speech regarding the Cuban missile crisis. Both events were very high-pressure situations for the United States and the Presidents that were in office at the time. On August 6th 1945, President Truman authorized the use of the first even made atomic bomb to strike at Japan, after the bomb was dropped, President Truman released a statement addressing the country.
So today i will be writing about the atomic bomb and it hitting Hiroshima and Nagasaki and destroyed those cities. In August 1945 president Truman decided to drop two atomic bombs on Japan. When those two cities got bombed it was horrible day for the japanese. But that ended WW11 after the 2nd bomb we dropped. And people are still affected by the bomb today.
My dear friends, as I stood there watching the blinding light of the Trinity test, I couldn't help but feel a sense of awe and dread. We had done it, we had unleashed the power of the atomic bomb onto the world. And with this, we have become something more, something greater than ourselves. With the blinding flash of light, the mushroom cloud rising up into the sky, I know that nothing would ever be the same again. The Trinity test was successful, and we have just unleashed the power of the atomic bomb onto the world.
There is high controversy over whether or not it was acceptable for the United States to use the atomic bomb, in my opinion I feel as though it was our right to use it, but not in this situation. Many people would agree or disagree with this statement, and yet some would still have other opinions. There is no right or wrong opinion, but some have better intentions than others. Was it acceptable for the United States to use the atomic bomb? I believe that it was, but maybe the world just wasn’t ready for something that held that much power.
In 1945, the United States launched an atomic bomb to Japan as an attempt to get Japan to surrender WWII. Firstly the United States dropped “Little Boy” in Hiroshima and later dropped “Fat Man” in Nagasaki. Although the intentions of these bombs was because of war, was it really necessary? This atomic bomb destroyed the lives of many Japanese through deaths, diseases and destruction. Isn’t the American moral strong enough to prevent this?
