In her article, Lewis gives many examples to support her claim, one of those being a case from Beaumont California where a football coach was filmed punching one his players in the gut. When this clip was later leaked to the public, parents and fellow teammates downplayed the incident, and even praised the coach when interviewed about the incident. After describing the example, Lewis goes on to say, “Martin’s behaviors may be an extreme example, but physical and emotional bullying by youth coaches is often still accepted or even defended as a way to improve

She claims that the games are not festive but they end up in the wrong development of a child’s brain. The coaches and parents have high hopes for their children that result in the pressure building. This changes the purpose of sports from teaching tolerance, teamwork and sportsmanship to merely winning by all means.
In November of 2014 Gordon W. Blood, Kathryn L. Decker, Kristen A. Raviotti, Abbey M. Leibig, and Ingrid M. Blood from the College of Health and Human Development at Pennsylvania State University published an article in the Journal of Communication Disorders, Deaf Studies, and Hearing Aids. Most kids in a school are looking for a quality education, not to get fit before their school careers are over. The fact of the matter is that not every student is athletic. “School sport is a state of mind. You cannot thrust it on to sensitive people”(Kite). According to national statistics, 20% of U.S. students in grades 9–12 have experienced bullying(Herb).
Although at the high school level many student athletes are expected to follow rules and regulations, we understand as a society that they are not yet fully responsible for their decisions. So as adults we make a lot of their decisions for them and advise them hopefully to make the right moral decisions for themselves when we are not there. At the high school level, the goal of teachers and coaches a like should be to prepare the student athlete for their future roles in society. This means not only giving them the tools to apply knowledge but also giving them a healthy balance of moral values such as honesty, integrity, acceptance, trust, and forgiveness. As leaders of school, staff members understand many parents are not teaching their kids the moral values they need at home, and to much violence and dishonesty in seen in everyday society to instill these values later in life.

"When people have the freedom to roam through cyberspace, they are exposing themselves to a world of pornography, cyberbullying, and internet monopolies. The government is supposed to protect its people from harm but with the invention of the internet, people are now opening themselves up to a world only lightly protected by the government. It is written in the Constitution that people in America have the right to speak their opinions and thoughts, but this freedom in certain situations can be abused and hurtful to other people. If people in America did not have the right to give their opinion then the idea of America being a free country would be a joke (to say the least). With the internet, we_Ñéve now created a new space for people to speak
Don’t let the coach ruin your child’s favorite sport. “All kids should have equal playing time it’s not fair for one kid to be put on the bench because he’s not good enough” (“Should Coaches Give Equal Playing Time?”). Only some students will get rewarded for playing. Some students will not get the chance to play even though they will be the only ones working hard. The students will enjoy playing and being rewarded for their hard work and participating in the sports they are participating
From an interview conducted, involving six student athletes, all six said that they noticed favoritism amongst the coaches. Bailey Ruth, another sophomore student athlete who played lacrosse for seven years brought up the theory that the favoritism shows in the playing time and respect given to those athletes. This sheds light on the obvious struggle for those student athletes who aren’t given the same and equal opportunities as the ‘luckier’ players. Some parents and coaches claim that, yes the coaches do play favorites, but they aren’t doing it intentionally. However focusing on the idea that they aren’t giving everyone the same chance, they are overlooking the deeper problems for the players who are being mistreated.
