The Clarkson University Physician Assistant Studies Program will prepare me for a successful future. If I were to graduate from this program, I would have confidence in my ability to provide care. I value the emphasis on compassion in the Physician Assistant Studies Program. I believe that compassion is so easy to provide, but yet overlooked by some providers. I currently can only provide a small amount of care as a nursing assistant but I truly put all my heart into my work. I look forward to the day where I care apply my compassion into being a PA, a provider which requires a greater amount of education and responsibility. Along with compassionate care, Clarkson encourages teamwork, an aspect which I believe will make me a strong PA. A good teammate demonstrates a great amount of integrity, sharing notes for improvement and also comments for praise. Being a part of a team requires an appreciation for your teammates when they are putting forth all their effort for the team to succeed, in this case providing proficient care. The Clarkson value of integrity will make me a PA who will immediately take responsibility for my patients’ health, an essential component for adequate care. Being a member of a team, especially a member of a healthcare team requires a willingness to accept diversity. I respect and acknowledge diversity because I believe it is essential in medicine, listening to others opinions and striving to understand topics which may make me uncomfortable at first will only make me a more compassionate and cultured
