The University of Pennsylvania promotes this wondrous idea that students should be free to explore, and in the process innovate something amazing. Simply the thought of unrestrained inquiry titillates my expansive curiosity. Just as Magellan, Cabot, and famed explorers of the new world had been fascinated by knowledge beyond their boundaries, I am a conquistador. But rather than pursuing the riches of the Fountain of Youth, I seek the treasures of fruitful study and intellectual endeavors.
Navigating to the College of Arts and Sciences, I endeavor to unearth connections between the two disciplines: Sciences and Humanities. Translating for my family’s medical functions and growing up with both western and oriental medicine have shown me the …show more content…

Envisioning myself reveling in Penn’s multitude of health-oriented programs and facilities, especially the outdoor adventure trips, I sense myself salivating. In my conquest, the onset hunger is perennial: a desire for knowledge that only involvement with the Pre-Health Specialized Studies Program at the College of Liberal and Professional Studies could satisfy. Though academically diverse, the four different undergraduate schools dreamily amalgamate under the One University Policy, which will enable me to procure daily doses of my passions in other areas of philosophy, literature, cultural studies, life sciences, and history. As I understand, intellectual and academic interests-the essence of learning- are not confined to the classroom. Almost three centuries (277 years) of history accompany Penn, but with the lively city of Philadelphia as its backyard, I will never run out of opportunities to learn from the books as well as the community on and off campus. To engage as an member of the community, I look forward to participating in the Civic House Program, thereby contributing to Penn my enthusiasm for community service.
