My passion is learning, from the trivial to the essential. My academic journey began when I was selected to attend the Mathematics and Science Academy (“MSA”), an early college program located at the University of Texas at Brownsville. MSA allowed me to graduate with my high school diploma and associate’s degree concurrently. Because of this advancement opportunity, I was able to graduate with a Bachelor of Business Administration at the young age of nineteen. St. Mary’s University School of Law was only the beginning of my odyssey into the legal profession. However, transferring to University of Houston Law Center is the next step on my journey. I hope that you will find me worthy of acceptance to this prestigious university.

The exceptional quality of your university’s legal education is evident through your consistently high bar passage rates. For the most recent bar exam –February 2016 – your university achieved the highest passing rate among the 10 Texas accredited law schools. Successful bar passage reminds me of a common phrase: “C’s get degrees” which implies students are able to get a college degree with just a passing grade, or the bare minimum. As a Hispanic, I personally notice the disadvantage that minorities experience –especially in academia. Both Houston and your university open windows of opportunities to minorities. I enjoy being a part of a diverse society, because it encourages growth and learning. It has been recognized that there are significant benefits to diversity. Specifically, diversity recognizes that people with different backgrounds, skills, attitudes, and experiences bring fresh ideas and perceptions.
