I am Jorge Nicolas Hayek, a junior researcher in an independent research project concerning the geological interpretation and modeling of geophysical subsurface data acquired from oil and gas wells. I have obtained two B.Sc. degrees after attending a dual program offered by Universidad de Los Andes, Colombia: Geosciences finalized on March 2015 with a grade point average 4.05 out of 5.0, and Physics finalized on March 2016 with grade point average 3.96. The global grade point average for the two programs combined was 3.98 out of 5.0. These two undergraduate programs introduced me to a wide variety of subjects about physics applied to the earth sciences, what is a major motivation to me to continue with graduate studies in Geophysics.

Is well known and appealing that this prestigious program offers the chance for the students to develop in a more research-oriented environment. I am strongly convinced that this program is one of the best alternatives to pursue my near future objectives. I intend to pursue my graduate studies in Munich as it is a traditional and High-Tech center in Germany, therefore is an opportunity of exposure to an international and multicultural environment. This will expand my horizons, and allow me to acquire different perspectives as a professional in the field of Geophysics, and as a person in the …show more content…

The exposition of these chapters allowed me to think about different possibilities concerning the development of interdisciplinary projects, and think about different perspectives to solve diverse problems.

My work experience has been developed through three different positions for a relative short period of time each. Some of the activities I have done are data quality control and data management, data loading into interactive interpretation software and research and development. I have also had the opportunity to work as professor assistant in Geosciences, mathematics, and physics for multiple courses, as Physics Laboratory Assistant and as Junior Research Geoscientist during 2015 and 2016.

In my first work I was part of a multidisciplinary team in charge of doing seismic reprocessing and interpretation. I learned the basics about seismic processing and interpretation before the actual courses at the university, and I had my first approximation using commercial interactive interpretation software. In my following job, I did quality control and data management of geophysical well
