There are many important issues facing education today for example Politics, Common Core, and Parental Involvement to mention a few. Politicians when running for a campaign promise more funding for education and better resources will be provided but yet to be determined. When there are funding issue the first place they take money from is the school system, as if there wasn’t a budget issue already. Politicians don’t seem to comprehend the Common Core system, but are making suggestions for change with no evidence that the change will in fact make a positive improvement in the Public school system. I believe that Educators should have a say in who is elected to be on the School Board and for the person being elected to have a previous background in education or have served as an educator for at least 10 years. They should explore what Common Core does to engage students in their academic achievement. After all, with the challenges that our society faces today, it is going to take experts from all fields of study to achieve lasting solutions. As educators we need to inform others on Common Core. Common Core is a great way to help the students achieve developmental skills to flourish in the real world. Common Core not only has the similar standards being taught at a similar time during the school year nationwide, but also educates our students to open their mind to more than one traditional way of thinking and learning to work with others and in addition to creating leadership skills amongst the students.
