The Common Core Standards is a guideline that schools in America should follow for K-12 students (Bleiberg & West, 2014). The standards set the minimum expectations that a child in that range ought to have in English arts and mathematics at the end of each grade (Akkus, 2016). The Common Core Standards hence enable the students to have analytical and critical thinking skills (Bleiberg & West, 2014). A critical student can hence evaluate a situation from different viewpoints and determine the best course of action for each challenge (Lanning, 2013). The students in America hence have a common ground which enhances uniformity but also ensures that there is fairness in the grading system. The scores are also good because they form the guideline under which the universities and colleges admit their students. The colleges hence are also assured that the students have the same basic skills which also facilitate smooth learning at the tertiary stage. Besides, progressing to the colleges, the Common Core Standards also help the students to get conceptual understanding on what they learn in class. The core standards hence does not merely focus on ensuring that the students get high grades but that they can apply the skills in their everyday lives. Such students hence later on get creative and they are in charge of innovations which make the world a better living
