Nowadays, there are a lot of Vietnamese students who want to study in a foreign country. Some students go to Japan, Korea, or Singapore near Vietnam. The other ones choose the United States for their education because they think the United States has the best education than Vietnam. Why do they think that? The education systems between Vietnam and the United States have many things that differ such as the method of teaching, the extra class after school, and the tuition fee.
The first difference between Vietnam and the United States education is the teaching method. In Vietnam, the method of teaching is old-fashioned and inactive. To be more specific, Vietnamese students just go to school, listen to whatever teachers teach in class and they take notes. Students have the lack of discussion, so they rarely have critical thinking. Therefore, classrooms are often very quiet and boring. Most students respect teachers more, and they do not dare to argue with their teachers. The teacher is a model, so students must follow his/her teaching style. In Vietnam, students often have extra classes after school because parents always think that knowledge at school is not enough, and their children need to study more after school. That is one of the reasons which makes many students feel that it is unfair because they cannot afford to pay the extra classes fee. Some of the students who attend the extra classes are able to answer all of the questions in test before the next class at school. In contrast, students in the U.S. do not have any extra classes after academic classes. They just come to class in the morning, and they go home in the afternoon.
