In terms of the area “Creating a vision”, I think I could improve by meeting with my management team to create a vision that takes our organization to the next level and beyond. The organization I work for has been in business for over 20 years and we were one of the only companies that offered our services to the world. Now 20 years later there are many organizations that do what we do and we have become stagnant if you will. Our leaders, including myself, have to decide were we want to go and bring everyone together to achieve that goal. We then need to communicate to our staff members and Board of Directors the new vision and not keep it to ourselves. They need to own the new vision of the organization and become a part of its success. We need to develop a comprehensive plan to be able to execute that vision and have detailed departmental goals that help the organization achieve the broader overall objective, which is the vision of the organization. I then need to motivate the people and that is the second category in which I scored low. An unmotivated group will not move an organization or themselves forward. We have to instill in the group that they are the greatest asset, not equipment or cash or supplies. I began purchasing apple products in the early 1990’s and I did not because I was investing on the organization at the time. Steve Jobs did a great job when he spoke about or presented and talked about both new and old products. He essentially met many of the 10 qualities listed in the attend section of unit one. Their was also a book written about Steve Jobs called, “Steve Jobs: Ten Lessons in Leadership” (Tetzeli, R. 2015). A few qualities that come to mind when I think about Steve Jobs as a great leader are his strong sense of purpose. Steve Jobs’ salary from Apple from 1997 to 2011 was just $1 per year (Imran, A. 2011). He believed in the products and as the founder of the organization had a purpose to see his vision come true. He also had extensive job knowledge and when presenting products he knew the technical lingo and was not just a uniformed CEO who just ran the organization. He was also very persistence and had a reputation as a tyrannical micro manager, but also surrounded himself in his later years with executives who would debate with him (Tetzeli, R. 2015). Steve Jobs also had enthusiasm for his role and more than that enthusiasm for the organization as a whole and enthusiasm for the products that were developed or being developed and this enthusiasm lead to breakthrough and revolutionary products such as the Apple II and the iMac that creating buzz for the organization upon his
