-Students’ motivation and meaningful learning in primary science and technology According to Brady (2008), young children usually show an innate attraction towards science and technology. As teachers, we should take advantage of that innate attitude and develop age-appropriate experiences in order to make science come alive in unique and meaningful ways for children. However, the latest science literary NAP report conducted by the NSW Education Standards Authority (2015) reflects that even though most students show interest in learning new aspects of science, many of them do not relate science to their daily lives. In other words, they are not able to assess information accurately when making decisions in the real word.
Furthermore, my peers and I created a model or an activity, related to the week’s lesson, to illustrate a concept in chemistry.
Since I was a toddler, I enjoyed investigation and exploration. Whether through trying to create a potato-powered clock or through pulling apart the wires that comprise an old radio, I have always had an immense desire to know the intricacies that encompass any item or concept. At my high school, AP Chemistry provided me with the best resources through which I could understand and engage with the complexities of the world around me. The curriculum incorporated more than just textbooks or powerpoints, but also hands-on experiences and real-world applications of the science. Thus, this course nourished my curiosity and inspired me to pursue chemistry in college and beyond.

As a graduate teaching assistant at TTU, I have taught different laboratory classes such as general chemistry, organic chemistry, inorganic Chemistry. In General chemistry labs gravimetric and titrimetric methods were used as quantitative analysis techniques. During my teaching and research carrier, various instrumental methods such as NMR, IR, and UV-VIS spectroscopy, GC-MS, HPLC, X-ray Diffraction, combustion analysis were used to characterize the compounds. The experience I gained from each lab was very different. I had to customize my teaching skills and methods based on the students’ backgrounds, abilities and interests since every student is unique and different.
