Diary Of Anne Frank Essay

Anne Frank was a girl who had to live the last years of her life in a bunker, hiding from the Green Police, and in a concentration camp. While she was in hiding, she wrote in a diary. One of the famous quotes she wrote is, “In spite of everything, I still believe people are really good at heart.” Anne was forced to put life as she knew it on hold, to dwell in a room hidden from the outside world, her only hope to survive. She saw and heard terrible things, yet she still strongly believed there was good in everyone. AFter reading the play script of A Diary of Anne Frank by Frances Goodrich and Albert Hackett, I have come to the same conclusion. People really are good at heart.

Van Daan, in bare feet, dressed in underwear and trousers, is dimly seen coming down the attic stairs and into the centre room. He goes to the food cupboard under the sink and again lights a match. Then he cautiously opens the cupboard and take out a half loaf of bread. As he closes the cupboard, it creaked. He stands rigid. Mrs. Frank sits up in bed and sees Mr. Van Daan.” In the Annex, everyone was supposed to get equal amount of food. Even when everything was shared equally, everyone was malnourished and constantly hungry. Mr. Van Daan saw his wife and son, and it was obvious that they did not have enough to eat. He was extremely hungry, and knew they felt just as hungry as he did. However, Mr. Van Daan ignored all of that and tried to quench his hunger by stealing food. This caused everyone, including his wife and son, to get less food and suffer more. Mr. Van Daan was aware of this, yet he still stole food. Ost people would expect a father to eat less, even if only a little bit less, in order to give his family more to eat. Yet Mr. Van Daan could not even keep things equal and fair, much less give his family more than him. This shows how selfish and cruel humans can
