The Mission of Duke College is to educate and train students in their chosen profession for employment in a specific career. Duke College is a single campus, located in South Florida, and offers both Associate and Bachelors degree programs in health care and business. The campus will operate under a principle of guidelines in order to provide students with an extraordinary educational experience and to enforce a positive atmosphere throughout the school and the community. These principles include: having integrity, being supportive to students, different departments will be required to work together as a team, owning mistakes and using them as an opportunity to grow, and being the best you can be at your job. Each admission advisor will be responsible for the enrollment of 15 students for the summer and winter semesters; and for mid quarter starts they will be required to enroll 5 students each. It is essential for my team members to hit their assigned individual goals in order to continue operating. An admissions advisor has the responsibility of recruiting candidates for higher education learning and aiding in the success of students.
There are several private colleges that offer fast track programs in the South Florida area. My goal is to implement a process where students can receive more individual attention from their professors by offering smaller class sizes so that the students’ can experience success every day. The admission advisor must be skilled in guiding prospective student in acknowledging the benefits of joining this college, oppose to other competitors. The culture of the staff and student body has a great influence on the appeal the school has for future students, for this reason we operate using a diverse staff, do not hold any prejudices or biases against any students and create an environment that allows for individuals to be themselves and feel accepted. Each team member is evaluated using a performance appraisal method. This will determine their level of performance, and reveal how effectively work is being completed. As mentioned in Cadwell (2000), the purpose of performance management is to match employee contributions with values, initiatives, and the goals of the organization. Through performance managements, employees are set goals to achieve certain results (p.26). The method used within this company is the check list appraisal.
