During my junior year of high school, I decided I wanted to attend Western Carolina University. The Pride of the Mountains marching band was the main reason I wanted to attend as it truly encaptivated me and at the time I was beginning to envision myself on the WCU field along with other talented musicians. My junior year marching season reignited my passion for the activity and led me to the conclusion that my greatest wish was to continue marching band even after I graduated high school. Furthermore, I decided I wished to continue my marching journey at Western Carolina University. Upon learning about the Brinson Honors College, I found a reason to truly commit to Western. I have always been a fast learner and often get bored if a class is not mentally challenging. My high school journey has been full of countless AP, honors, and college courses as I always sought knowledge and academic challenge. I believe that the Brinson Honors College will foster an environment in which I will be challenged academically while also being supported by those with the same high-achieving mindset. I was especially excited to learn that the honors college would allow me to work with an honors advisor to create my own individual honors experience and challenge myself as I know best. Having experience as a two-year section leader in marching band, I see myself truly engaged in leadership opportunities provided by the honors college. Through my journey as a section leader, I have gained experience leading as well as formed my own leadership style.
