Animal Testing: Pros vs. Cons When individuals get a shot at the hospital, get their makeup and reapply the products, they act so confident that the chemicals are safe to use. In today’s society, there are various specifications to the need of chemicals being safe. One of the main procedures used to predict how poor health effects of chemicals might end up being is animal testing. There have been many medical treatments today that have been made possible by animal testing. Although there are many benefits and advancements that come with animal testing, there are downsides to all the procedures that are performed. There are individuals that are not in favor of animal experimentation but still support the testing for medical purposes. Over the prior years, the practice of using animals for medical and cosmetic research has been severely criticised (Hajar 42). Going back to the article, “Animals and Medical Testing,” Hajar notes that those opposed to practices believe that the benefits that humans get with the procedures performed do not favor the harm to animals (Hajar 42). Even though testing on animals is useful for our well-being, the animals that are being tested on can be harmed in the process. There are many different arguments as to why the testing on animals is bad but they all seem to tie together.
