Love, an intense feeling of deep affection towards someone or something. Individuals themselves are faced with the challenges due to the found emotion of love. In this case, in the play The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare, it was two teenaged star crossed lovers with unconditional love that sent them to a tragic death, but among peace and infatuation that filled their hearts. Experiencing the act of the cliche “love at first sight” played a massive role in the quick growth of their relationship. But what happens when coming in contact with such fondness? Succumbing to the desires of a seventeen year old boy and a thirteen year old girl? In their case, we learned that they took their devotion genuine. Was it more lust than love? It could very well have been that they were not emotionally prepared for such feelings and since they had no one to go to really for guidance, because their love had to be kept secret, may have contributed to such rash acts. They make mistakes all throughout the play as their feelings of love intensify. One act is when Romeo kills Juliet’s cousin Tybalt. At this point they are secretly married and though a brawl provoked by Tybalt, no one understands why he wants to keep the peace and that is the reason it escalated so quickly. If they had known, things may have turned out differently. At least if Mercutio had known, he probably would not have engaged Tybalt which resulted in his death (Shakespeare 3.1 ). Thus, Romeo would not have retaliated and killed Tybalt causing his exile from Verona. It was this exile, that sparked their ideas of not being able to be together in life, then they chose death as the only way.
