Should college student athletes put their health on the line and risk losing their scholarship? Should the athlete be stuck with medical bills or should they be paid fairly with their hard work and dedication to the game and his or hers academics? There has been over 200,000 injury reports over 6 years. One of the major college basketball tournaments called March Madness made about 1 billion dollars and yet the players don't even see a penny of it. (Debate Club)
As there are two champions for the March Madness Tournament one men and one women victor but maybe they aren't the real champions at all. The real champions may be their corporate sponsors or broadcasters or even the NCAA itself.(Debate Club)

Yet college athletics as a business is as big as professional athletics and the only difference is the money goes in the pockets of coaches, athletic directors, conference commissioners and sports media executives instead of giving players fair pay for a fair days of work. Everyone would benefit more from a athletic system that provide its athletes with better compensation and health care. If the NCAA continues to throw its money into the “broken system” it won't be long until it falls apart and we will all lose.(Debate Club Brian Fredericks)
With flipping a question from “why should college athletes be paid?” to “why shouldnt college athletes be paid?”. Intentionally without them performing on the court, field or rink and entertaining millions of college sports fans the NCAA would be swept from billions of dollars. Without them fans wouldn't be buying tickets and expensive cable just to see their favorite team or players play or even fans buying expensive sports paraphernalia such as jerseys and video games. Colleges should fully support their athletes education by increasing full scholarships equal to the cost of attendance. (Debate Club Bobby
