Reflection on volunteering at school
Important of volunteering in education short essay
The benefits of volunteering
Don’t take our word for it - see why 10 million students trust us with their essay needs.
Teenagers love money. However, the problem with earning money is that kids are too busy to get a job. Or a job is not enough money for their needs, especially in this changing economy. Jeffrey Selingo, in his piece “Why More Teenagers and College Students Need to Work While in School,” argues that more kids should work while pursuing their education. He expresses the importance of finding time for a job, and that making money is not the only thing teenagers gain from a job.
This idea of Mc Knight’s article appealed to me in so many ways. When I first began my service learning experience I often thought about the concept of service as something voluntarily but something required that I was expected to do. Signing up for my service learning site I knew that I was required to complete at least thirty hours of community service. I thought to myself and said “cool! I have to do community hours but it is okay it will be just like high school.
If every college student were forced to volunteer before they got their college degree that would be over 6 million students making places better to live and better for the environment. Michael R. Veon, a Democratic member of Pennsylvania's House of Representatives, proposed a bill that would require students to volunteer 25 hours every year. That would make around two million volunteer hours annually. I think doing the one credit for every 25 hours will motivate the students to actually take part in the volunteering process. That way college students can earn their credits a different way other than having a gym class or taking something that they don’t want to
Kids should not be paid to do chores. Things will fall apart and things might die. Hi, i’m Ethan Parkhurst, and I will convince you that kids should not get paid to do chores. I found an interesting article from scholastic.com. The issue I read is about two sides debating about kids getting paid to do chores.
I think to add 1.5 hours to the school day is unnecessary. I think if the school board adds a few more minutes to the school day it would be more necessary than that. I disagree with the school board's decision to add 1.5 hours to the school day. I disagree because kids will be sleepy, some people don't eat School lunch / breakfast and it would interfere with their daily routine. First we're going to talk how the students maybe sleepy.
The united states should require all future U.S. high school graduates to spend one year in service to their country before college. In some contries around the globe, students are required to go into the special forces for a certain amount of time before they go onto college or to go on with the rest of their lives. In some ways, this could be seen as a good thing. The kids learn what life outside of their small town is like. This is clearly supported by the fact that all student that go into the military are more patriotic and believe they have more freedom than others who did not go into the military.
My last reason is that parents and faculty need to let students make their own decisions. To begin with, particular students have important matters at home that probably need to be taken care of. Whether it is a financial problem, personal problem or family problem, etc. Some students need to take time off from school either temporary or permanently to deal with the issue.
I don’t think the school board should add any more hours to school. Many people think school hours should become longer. I do not agree with that mainly because it would be hard to adapt to. I think this because it would just be a different thing to get used to and I think many children would not be able to come to school. Some reasons are school hours, my disagreement, and changes.
Have you ever had to do a chore for longer than you have wanted to? For example, taking out the trash until you 're 17 years old, or older. Well making a student stay committed to staying in school until age 18 can feel that way. Students should not have to stay in school until age 18 because there are different methods of lowering dropout rates, when you require a student to stay in school it can cause issues for teachers and other students, and some students need to dropout to help with family. Just as there are many other ways of making a kid do chores, or getting the trash taken out, there are many other ways to lower the dropout rates.
It is unfair to high school students who have to do community service hours in order to get their diploma. While doing community service teaches students responsibility, it distracts them from their more important school work. Students are then worrying too much about how they can get their homework done and study while at the same time getting their community service hours in. Community service should not be a requirement to graduate high school. Community service should not be forced upon someone.
When my friends hear how many community service hours I have, they think I’m getting paid, but I’m not. Many think I give back to my community because it is mandatory by the school. To me, it is a way of giving back. I like making people feel as though they matter, and it gives me a good feeling at the end of the day because I feel I have made a better community. Especially because I love the game of basketball it has always been my favorite sport growing up I played it during my youth days, as I was getting older I realize every sport is not for everyone.
Why Students Shouldn’t Have Homework There are around 365 days in a year, and in a school year, there are around 180 days. From the beginning of the school year to the end, the most common thing that students least like, is homework. Coming home after a long day of school, then having responsibilities to do at home, not to mention some students have after school activities which take up around 2 hours if not more. Homework for students is a barrier that makes it difficult for them to have any kind of social life, or spend time with their family. There are many reasons why students shouldn’t have homework, during this essay people will learn why having homework isn’t helping the student, except making things more difficult for them.
Do you think kids should get paid to do chores? I think they should because it gives us a chance to be responsible and earn money. Most kids think that we should get paid to do chores. Kids already have to clean their room, do homework, wash the dishes, etc., but by doing extra chores we think we should get paid for doing it. Megan believes that kids should get paid to do chores, but her mother thinks otherwise.
Volunteering should be done intrinsically. Many students find community service so difficult, time consuming, and not enjoyable. Therefore, they tend to only complete the required hours without any essential effort. To call mandatory community service 'volunteering ' is a problem because then we begin to confuse the distinction between an activity that is willingly done and something that is obligatory and perhaps not always rewarding. Volunteering should be something you choose to do because you want to do it, not because somebody made you do it.
I 100% agree with this idea. This can help save so many lives of people that are suffering from poverty. In addition, if colleges were less
