A revolution is often defined as the overthrow of an oppressive or unfit government with the desire for change. However, to revolve is to move in a circular motion. As proven evident by all revolutions- revolutions begin in a similar place as they started. George Orwell's book " Animal Farm" was created specifically with the Soviet Union after the Bolshevik Revolution in mind. However, the way the story unfold can be related to all other revolutions. Some of the major commonalities between the aftermath of the Bolshevik Revolution and other revolutions is that power and greed can corrupt anyone, the lower class always suffers in the hands of the people in charge, and revolutions end in similar or worse conditions than when they had begun. …show more content…

The story narrated the rise and fall of the Soviet Union As describe in the story, the revolution begins because the animals want equality and freedom. In the story the humans use the animals for their produced goods and while forcing them to overwork and live in poor conditions. Therefore, the animals began a rebellion. Although the revolution seemed to be successful at first, the pigs began to call all the shots. As seen in many revolutions the person in charge wants full control with no opposition and will go to great lengths to ensure of that. Orwell depicts this idea by having the head pig Napoleon accuse another pig named Snowball of being a traitor. When in fact Snowball was simply trying to rule with the wants and needs of the other animals in mind. Meanwhile, the pigs in charge begin to act identically to their once human oppressors. The Pigs begin to change the rules on the farm to accommodate their wants and they force other animals to overwork and live off of the scraps of their labor. Meanwhile the pigs eat plenty and live lavishly. Napoleon even goes as far as to trade with the enemy to the animals, the humans. The pigs and the humans begin to look identical to the other animals. After many years of suffering the other animals realize that very little has changed because he people in charge are only concerned with their own
