As a third year high school student and a second year college student, I have had to face difficulties concerning my academic career, I have had to evaluate my goals and my achievements, and I have even had to learn how I learn. Going to Early College High School has changed me, I have become more motivated to be a good student and a successful individual overall. One thing that I have always stayed true to are my high-standards for myself personally and academically. I never settle, I always do my best, and when my best isn’t enough I do better. I have always been extremely motivated as a student to perform as best as I can, even at my low points in life.
Throughout my educational experience, I have learned that dedication is the key to accomplish set goals. In 2008-2009, my GPA was at its lowest due to personal tragedy; however, I worked hard and brought up my GPA and maintained it until I graduated with summa cum laude. Through my volunteering and shadowing experiences, I have learned that compassion is important for understanding and connecting with others. Volunteering at various hospitals and events taught me that understanding other person is one step closer towards helping them. Above and all, it motivated me each and every day, which is significant for longevity of my goals.
Although my goals are palpable, and they shift under the pressure of many different experiences, it’s safe to say that even under all of the constant change happening in my young life, my love for learning in great strides has always been present. For over 20 years, I have dreamed of completing my Master’s Degree. Over the years, my motivation may have changed a bit; but, my desire to reach my goal has never faltered. In my twenties, I just wanted to make more money. Then, as I settled into various positions, I just wanted to do it for the sense of accomplishment. I wanted to be an example to my daughter.
