The recent health trends in Canadian youths can be traced back to the lack of effort to reverse the trend by high schools. The lack of information from schools is a large contributor to this trend as it prevents adolescents from noticing the problem. In addition, youths often avoid exercising, due to time restraints or other personal hobbies, which increases the amount of teens who intake more energy than they need. Finally, schools do little, in practice, to support the reversal of this trend, making it difficult for teens to do it themselves. The recent health trend in Canadian youths can ultimately be reversed through educating teens about healthy eating, putting an emphasis on exercising, and putting the information gathered by schools into practice. Exercising is a great way to burn our extra energy intakes and kept many of us active. However, due to the removal of this in high school, some students stopped exercising daily since the time is not given to them. To make matters worse, we spend a majority of our time in school sitting. Besides for physical education, students have no other options to stay healthy during school time. Doing it on their own time is difficult since many of us are used to having the school provide us with the time. The only reasonable solution may be to implement recesses into high school, even if it just means walking outside for 15 minutes.
