Hinduism and Buddhism are both religions that are followed by many people all over the world. Hinduism and Buddhism have lots of similarities but they also have a lot of differences. The beginning of Hinduism started in Northern India, around 1,500 B.C. It was founded by the Aryans from Central Asia and Northern India. However, Buddhism was founded by a prince named Siddhartha Gautama. He founded this religion in 483 B.C, near the Ganges River in India.
Hinduism has many unique features that highlight their importance and qualities. Hindus believe in the caste system, which is a class structure decided at birth. They also believe in three main gods; Shiva the Destroyer, Vishnu the Preserver, and Brahma the Creator. The Hindus have a holy book which is called the Vedas, it contains hymns, rituals, legends and more. The Vedas also consists of the oldest layer of Sanskrit literature and the oldest scriptures of Hinduism. The followers in Hinduism believe in reincarnation, which is when you pass away and then your soul will reincarnate and become another life form. One other thing that is unique about Hinduism is that their ultimate goal in life is to reach Moksha. Moksha is the cycle of death and rebirth which means the soul will live forever. …show more content…

For example, Buddha rejected the idea of the caste system because he thought it was cruel and unfair to be born into a class structure. Buddhists believe that there are actually two ways that you can be reincarnated; Nirvana and Moksha. The Buddhist’s ultimate goal is to reach Nirvana, which you can only reach once in your lifetime. Nirvana is the release from the cycle of death and rebirth. In Buddhism, they believe that your actions known as karma have consequences. Bad karma will affect your future existence.
