Crime rate is also affected by video games. Video games serve as a safe alternative to violent behavior because there is no direct consequence for having aggressive behavior in games. Crime would then go down because more people are able to get rid of their aggression that they have built up inside in a safe and harm free way. So, there can be a reduction due to people being able to release some steam. Crime rate may also go up due to children being exposed to violence at a young age. This could then lead them into crime during their adolescents. Also, games are intended for a certain age group, which is why they have the rating on the side of them, but most parents do not care whether their children is playing violent video games. This could mean that kids as young as the age of 7, maybe even younger, are playing games that promote the use of violence. Although some can get pretty costly in order to get a good quality, there is still a good amount of games that are not. Compared to a night of bowling, going to a theme park, skydiving, and any other entertainment, games are a pretty cheap source of entertainment. Most games when they first come out range around the 60 to 70 dollar range, which again is pretty cheap compared to some other forms of entertainment. Also, once one buys a video game, one has that video game forever or until it breaks/gets sold. But with other forms of entertainment they only last for a night or two then one has to pay in order to enjoy them again. Also, games are ever changing, meaning that they will always have a variety of things to do when doing them, but with other sources of entertainment, once one has done it once, one might as well have already done it 100
