I have participated in volleyball, basketball, track, and cheerleading. These activities have taught me teamwork, which will play an important role in the real world.
Throughout high school, I have been involved in a great number of activities. These include athletics, clubs, and taking part in community service. I have played varsity field hockey my freshman, sophomore, and senior year of high school. I also played varsity lacrosse my freshman and sophomore year. The sport that I am most well known for is swimming, which I have participated in for all four years of high school.
In life, everyone has that one thing that managed to have a huge impact on their life, whether it is a talent, a sports team, a club, whatever it may be, everyone has something like that. For me, mine would have to be softball, I’m not going to say I can’t live without it, because I can, but it did have an incredibly big impact on my life. Softball gave me a sense of belonging. It gave me a sense of success; it taught me how to make friends and how to work with a group of people when faced with a challenge. When I step up to the plate getting ready to hit, I feel like people are counting on me, all eyes are on me and I’m not the only one who wants me to be successful.
I’ve had challenges and adversity during my times as an athlete, like tearing an ACL, but in the end something about athletics just continues to pull me back into it. I love the games, I love the spirit of the sports, I love the togetherness that athletics bring forth. Sports really unfolded for me on a personal stage in my high school years. I’ve played at least one sport each year in my time in high school. My freshman year I played soccer both semesters, one with a travel team and the other with my school team.
Lowry high school athletics have changed my life in many ways. It has taught me discipline, respect and how to handle my success and failures. High school athletics to me have been more than just time to miss school or just a thing to do to mess around with my friends. Athletics have already enhanced my career tremendously already. The first thing high school athletics has taught me is disciple.
Participating in sports highlights my ability to work with teammates and focus in difficult situations. I have been captain on my volleyball team since seventh grade and captain on my club volleyball team for the last two years. Each year
I was voted team player of the year for my basketball team during my freshmen year but, I was also team captain of my soccer team during my junior and senior year. I was taught to make everyone feel part of a team and to make that team feel like a family. I was also taught that someone needs to take control and make decisions that are best for the team, and not just myself. I think that sports will help how I am with my own family in the future. The same way that my family now affects the actions I took during my sports and in my education.
Sports have allowed myself to develop such strong relationships with my family. Not only that but it has taught me to always pursue my goals no matter the obstacles in my way, this is something I will take on with me to college, my career, and just to continue to do so throughout my life. Growing close to my family has been one of the biggest most beneficial factors of playing sports. For example my family is the reason that I have gotten where I am today with sports, they’re the ones driving me to and from practices.
Not only throughout my high school career, but also my whole life; I have played the sport that not only I love, but also my family loves, soccer. Throughout my years of playing soccer, the sport has helped me in many ways such as, bettering my life skills, helped decide what career to pursue, and brought me closer to my family. Soccer is a large part of my life and affects many aspects of it. It has taught me many different things and I feel being in the sport positively impacts my life. Playing soccer requires a lot of things sucks as, time management, mental determination, positive attitude, leadership skills, dependability, teamwork, being physically active, and many more important skills.
I have played volleyball for six years now. Our volleyball season can revenue three months longer. This past season I was on the junior varsity team. In the upcoming season I will be playing on the varsity team. These teams prepare myself for my future because they help me learn how to collaborate with others.
Sports have been apart of my life for many years. I have been actively involved in volleyball and softball throughout my lifetime. The season started out like any other, one week of pain staking agony and push-ups.
