There are many views on how the earth has come about and ended up how it is now. Two of the main ones are Creation and Evolution. Creationism is the belief of what the Bible says. It says that God created everything in 6 days, then taking the one day to rest. Evolution is the belief that things evolved from things. They believe in an ancient earth and over time cells have evolved into animals. Bill Nye The Science Guy believes in Evolution instead of creationism. He did a debate against Ken Ham, who is a creationist. Both of them made some very good points. Bill Nye said that over the time frame that creationists believe everything came to be there was not time for the animals to have grown, died, and be fossilized in so many layers of sandstone. He argued that there are ice cores that are over 680,000 layers each formed in a summer/winter cycle. He says that to show that it does not make sense in a the Bible's timeline that that could have formed. He also says that if the Grand Canyon was formed in a flood like the Bible describes why are there not canyons everywhere and why are there fossils in all layers of it. …show more content…
He points out that if we are just a result of natural selection like evolutionists think how are we to trust our reasoning? How are we supposed to trust our judgement of right and wrong? If we are made by a rational, loving God it would make sense that he gave us our judgment and logic, unlike if we came from natural selection. We are the only creatures that have logic and reasoning. If we came from apes how do we have logic and reasoning when they do not. He also pointed out that Nye was incorrect about his Grand Canyon statement. The Grand Canyon would be best explained by a global flood and was almost definitely made by erosion and that there are a lot of places on earth that were formed and changed by the
