My career goals began to take shape while working my internship at JMI Sports. I was fortunate to work alongside the CMO of the Ivy League Sports Marketing division and learn directly from him. I learned all about sponsorship and sales, and was able to assist him on nearly all sales efforts. I researched potential sponsorship partners, created pitch decks, participated in creative brainstorming sessions, and at the end of my second summer I was able to present a full marketing proposal to the CEO and the President of the company, persuading them to pursue esports as the next sport to be added to the Ivy League. In the process of creating this marketing proposal I was able to develop my organizational skills. I did extensive research on the topic, interviewed people in the industry, brainstormed partnership ideas, and created a full pitch deck to present. In my business classes I have learned a lot about subjects that are helpful in many industries, but especially in a competitive sports industry. These subjects include leadership, marketing, and finance. Additionally, my psychology classes allowed me to learn a lot about myself and how other people work. In sports, working well with a team is required, and I believe that because I can understand how people think and act I will accel in a team setting. Furthermore I have gained valuable experience in a sports setting at my internship as well as working in the athletic communications department and with the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC), a student run organization that acts a liaison between the student-athletes and the athletic department. As a SAAC representative I am a part of the discussions that help voice concerns and priorities of the entire team and student athlete
