John Brown is a hero or a villain? No, he is neither, he is a domestic terrorist. John Brown was born on May 9, 1800. He grew up as a hater of slavery and as an adult decided he was going to do something about it. When he was 55, he moved to Kansas with a few of his kids to work on his mission. This topic is important because we need to decide if we should celebrate this man and if his actions were worth it. John Brown was a villain because he killed many innocents, chose to commit treason from rebellion, and lied to court to lower or get rid of his sentence. He has killed 3 known innocent people in the massacre of Pottawatomie. This is one of the many examples of why John Brown was a horrible person. During this massacre, he encountered many of his soldiers to assist him which shows how much of a bad leader is toward his company. John Brown decided to make 1,000+ pike for the slaves to start a rebellion. Rebellion is a major way of committing treason and is punishable by death. Not only this, he also decided to attack an American armory named, Harpers Ferry Armory, according to Document C. This is the last one of his attacks before he was caught and went to court. This shows that he is a terrible person after betraying his country and trying to start a rebellion. Even after he raided Harper’s Ferry, he killed even more people when doing so. Lying in court is illegal, Lying counts as a crime against justice and would add salt to the wound. The sentence of the criminal: In doing so his public image would worsen even if committing a crime is a villainous thing as you know from cartoons and other action shows.
