John Brown Did you know that John Brown planned to use slaves in a revolt at Harper Ferry? John Brown was an abolitionist who wanted to put an end to slavery. But he came across many obstacles in the process of removing slavery. During this time slavery was a very serious topic and would create fights against people and states. John Brown was a villain in my opinion because he killed three men, lied in court, then told the truth once he knew he was sentenced to death, and freed slaves and gave them weapons just so he could start a revolt at Harpers Ferry. John Brown entered a house in Pottawatomie Creek and killed three people who he thought were slaves. In the letter from Mahala Doyle to John Brown she wrote “When you and three entered my house at midnight and arrested my husband and two boys and took them out to the yard and shot them cold blooded”. Also saying, “We had no slaves and never expected to have any”(Mahala Doyle). The reason this evidence is so important is because shooting people who he thought were slaves shows he is a horrible abolitionist and cannot do his job correctly or in the right way. …show more content…
In Document F, John Brown says he intended to take slaves into Canada. But in Document G, where he already knew he was going to be executed, he said he was going to place the slaves in a place where they could defend themselves. This evidence is a key piece in figuring out the answer to this topic. Since lying to the government and the public shows he cannot be
