The Kalamazoo Growlers organization was great first experience of the sports management world. Before this internship started I was hopeful to learn a lot of new things. I was excited to work with so many people that loved sports as much as I do. When I first applied I thought I would only be apart of the management team. Turns out I got to be apart of the management, marketing, and media teams. I’m glad I got to learn about so many different things with the Growlers. This organization has some strengths that some companies do not have. I think their biggest strength is customer service. A major skill I now have is understand that there are different ways to market to certain clients. For example, you would use social media to market towards the younger ages and use paper advertisements or emails for the older ages. I like to tell people “I did it all” at this internship because I literally did get to do it all. You could usually find me in the merchandise tent but if I was not there I could have been on the field either on the camera crew or doing promotions. I worked with about 30 interns and 10 front office employees. Made us all work together and understand how each other work or else we would have been successful.
