Kendrick Lamar created #1 albums for 5 years in a row becoming a platinum artist. Also, Lamar won 16 Grammy Awards and had an astounding 47 nominations. Lamar before his fame was a hard-working and well-disciplined kid. Lamar is a massively impactful artist who goes out of his way to be a role model and leader to the world. Lamar throughout his career has impacted the future of hip-hop, the younger generation, and the perception of the African American narrative.
First, Lamar changed the perception of hip-hop artists, and popular music artists today are inspired by him. Lamar did something different when ''[he] quickly shattered barriers in commercial music and entertainment that historically plagued both gangsters and conscious rappers“ (Braboy 3). Lamar was always a good influence on the people around him throughout his life and this can be seen in his music. Lamars's album “good kid, m.A.A.d city” is full of lyrics in that really make people think about what they are doing in their life and how they can be better.
