Leadership is influencing those around you in a positive way. It also means inspiring others to achieve their goals, while also achieving yours along the way. While inspiration and achievement are essential to be a successful leader, I believe that the most important goal is to encourage others to also become effective leaders. I believe that the following quote aligns to the values of our organization, “I start with the premise that the function of leadership is to produce more leaders, not more followers.” - Ralph Nader.
According to the Merriam-Webster dictionary, leadership is defined as "the power or ability to lead other people." In addition to this, leadership Is instructing a team with flexibility, hard work, inspiration. Leaders have equal importance in a team; they are neither above or below anyone. The role they play on the team is essential to achieving the task. Leadership means creating a blueprint of the steps needed and also including the input of others to improve the plan.
As a spokesperson, I want to empower teachers to be leaders in and out of the classroom. The key to raising achievement for all students is to empower teachers to lead and transform the teaching profession. Every child has the right to an education and the potential to learn. As educators, we have a great responsibility to serve as advocates for the students we serve. All children, regardless of their background, must be taught to believe they can succeed.
Leadership This term is imperative to the lowest level employee to the highest, however, I believe that leadership goes beyond the title itself. Leadership is not about personality, influencing people, nor is it about making friends, it’s the ability to build upon a person’s vision, creating a higher standard to build upon a person’s performance, and increasing a person’s personality beyond the regular. This belief may influence the environment created by the leader’s action where personality, influencing people, and making friends are in correlation once the foundation is established. I am not a leader by title nor are my peers, nonetheless, everybody are leaders from within.
In the words of the late broadcaster Donald McGannon, “Leadership is action, not position.” Leadership is the unification of a group of ordinary peoples to complete extraordinary accomplishments. A leader is not necessarily the person in front of the line, it is the person that stands alongside everyone and helps rise the group to their maximum potential. Leadership cannot be taught, it is learned. A person is not elected a leader, people with strong leadership skills are elected.
From class what I have learned about leadership is that when someone takes charge they need to bring the group together. When the leader brings the group together everyone works well. In the group others would share ideas, collaborate together, and merge the ideas they came up with so that everyone had contributed to the projects. The definition of leadership to me is taking charge of a group or a project, bringing the group together, and getting the best possible outcome of work for all the members included in the project. The type of leader that I am is a Democratic leader.
In this paper, I will be discussing my own leadership philosophy, along with the topics that were covered in the interview with the Commander. These topics are leadership philosophy, challenging of leadership, handling of issues, decision process, knowledge of the job, and handling conflicts. My Leadership philosophy is described as involvement and supportive. What I mean by involvement is knowing how people are doing their jobs, how each one is doing in their day to day life and understanding how everyone is different and unique.
A leader is not only one that knows where to go, but shows others where to go. A leader inspires those around them to do more, become more, and learn more. They seek out the potential that you cannot already see, and they guide you to use it. Leadership doesn’t come with power or education. Leadership is defined through the effect one has inflicted on others.

There are many different views and perceptions on leadership and what it exactly means. This is because there are many different types of leaders and many different views on them. Leadership can also be relational which means it takes teamwork, requires you to be able to work with others in various backgrounds and that may have difference perspectives. Leadership also requires continuous learning, discerned decision making, and savvy communication skills.
From my point of view , Leadership has more to it than I can possibly imagine. I define leadership as the art of enabling a group of people get to a specific destination. As a leader your main focus was to enable your followers lead theselves. As i think deeper i realise a person cannot choose to be a leader. I think a lot of the time people take on leadership positions without knowing.
