I completed the library interview with John D. Crissinger. He is a Reference/ Special Collections Librarian. The Special Collections part is responsible for storing academic records. He maintains and stores local history archives. He attended the University of Illinois- Champaign and obtained a Master of Library Sciences degree which is ALA certified. Also, in conjunction with his degree obtained a Master of Geography from Ohio University. He helps students and faculty find the materials and resources they need to conduct their research.
The best time to get help is early in an academic career and in the semester. The first time doing research can be daunting. The first time I had to write a research paper I did not know where to begin. I talk with the reference librarian. He helped me find credible and useful sources to strengthen my research. I have also found that the earlier a person starts the research process the better it is all around. Many articles and book are long, and it takes time to read and gather information to form a research paper. The research needs to be thought out and complete. This requires a person not waiting until the last minute. The longer a person delays staring, the paper suffers, and the student’s grade suffers. …show more content…

It is useful because they are massive amounts of information available on any topic. Research can be completed anywhere. The information essentially comes to the person. It is harmful because anyone can contribute to the research through a variety of methods, the most popular: Wikipedia. The best way to avoid uncreditable sources is by going to a university librarian. They will help navigate the student to find credible databases like Academic Search Complete and JSTOR. These databases are associated with EBSCOhost, a highly reputable source. Many people have their preferred database; however, one database is not better than the other
